Our History & Experience
Global Controls Group Inc. has been working with Machine Builders and Industry , assisting in all aspects of the electrical control systems for many years. Their seasoned programmers, designers, technicians and electricians, together, have literally hundreds of years of experience ready to work for you.
As their customer demands and requirements began to increase, GCG followed suit again increasing manpower and expertise. Keeping up with the rapid increases in technologies meant forming specialty groups within the whole group. Divisions were formed to breakout electrical, design, and programming. This made it easier for customers to access the right person for the project at hand.
In 2018 the company moved to a larger facility where it resides today. With over 20 persons in the group GCG continues to support many of its original customers as well as accepting new customers weekly. PLC, HMI and Robotic programming continues to be the largest focus of the business though machine wiring, panel build and design continue to thrive.
2000
Global Controls Group Inc. was created in the year 2000 by a group of individuals who were programming PLC’s and control systems for many of the local automation manufactures and industries. Finding that the area’s need for controls programmers was steadily increasing, they formed a group that would incorporate a wide range of controls personnel capable of completing any aspect of an electrical control system. Within a few years the company had over 10 people in the group and was steadily working across Ontario and into the United States.
By 2013 the group had grown to almost 20 and work was being performed all over the world. Word of mouth had substantially increased the customer base and in doing so had allowed GCG to expand services. A service department was created to break out project personnel from immediate needs personnel. Additional Robot and Scada specialists had been added to the group. The panel build shop had to be doubled in size. Programmers had become second to none in the industry offering their experience in almost any controller.

Our Expert Team Leaders
Allan Johnstone
Operations and Business Relations
As a founding member of the group and President of the company, Allan has performed all aspects of the company’s functions over the last 20 years. Although not active in the field anymore, Allan continues to pass on knowledge to the younger programmers and technicians as he runs the day to day operations of the business.
Allan holds a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and is the Master Electrician for the company.
Kevin Swan
Account Manager and Programmer
As a founding member of the group and Treasurer of the company, Kevin has performed all aspects of the company’s functions over the past 20 years. Kevin manages the larger customer accounts and continues to be an active programmer in the field.
Kevin is a licensed industrial electrician who became a programmer early in the stages of PLC development. He worked with many of the original PLC manufacturers throughout his career but has specialized in Siemens PLC’s throughout his time with GCG. He has become a road warrior travelling all across North America working on Siemens products.
Josh Owen
Programming Manager
Josh has been a member of the group since 2012 and is the Vice President of the company. He originally started as a technician building panels and wiring machines. He moved into design early in his career and took an interest in programming. He is now a senior programmer specializing in Robotics. Josh is a licensed electrician and continues to perform all aspects of the company’s functions.
Mitchell Grant
Electrical and Design Manager
Mitchell has been a member of the group since 2016 and is the Vice President of the company. He began his career as a technician building panels and wiring machines but quickly took an interest in design. Mitchell has become familiar with many electrical CAD software’s and leads the design and electrical teams.
